I started my own turtle tournament to get rid of them and haul them to the brazos so they don't interupt other tournaments.

Hello Fishermen and their Families:

I am looking for a family adventure from previous years. As editor of Feathers & Petals, a Birding,Nature magazine with 200 readers in my group, I would like a Fishing Derby family experience from someone. If you can contribute such a story (and with photos or not) send me any info.

I am having trouble finding a list of all the catfish tournaments scheduled for 2006 season in Dakota and the surrounding states. I know there will be two tournaments held in Grand Forks/East Grand Forks, on the Red River. I also have heard that a huge professional tournament will be held in Lockport on the Red River. Does anyone have information about any other catfish tournaments being held in the area? I also fish carp tournaments, so I would be interested in that information too.

If you have some info about catfish and/or carp tournaments, please send me an email at the address below.

We are in the process of setting up one of the best fishing derbys in this whole area. It will be at danzig dam.(perch city usa) We are getting sponsors for prizes and making brochures. THE BIG PROBLEM IS we can't find any rules or regulations as to how to make it work! Entry fees, special permits, Can we charge $50. per person and give them a stuffed teddy bear for first prise. HELL NO!!!! of course not. We want to run a fun and legal fishing tourny, so that people can bring their families out and enjoy the experience with a chance to win a prize. who do we talk to, so we can do this lawfully & and fun?????????? WHO????????????????????????????????????????????

You guys owe it to you to check this out what a blast!!! www.carpanglersgroup.com

The Carp Anglers Group was started in 1993 as a small newsletter with a circulation of 30 anglers. The (then) American Fishing Association published the first ad in their newsletter and the CAG was off to the races. Word of mouth and lots of help from EuroTackle and CarpSense helped sell the idea. The February 1995 issue of the always progressive and open-minded In-Fisherman brought in several hundred members, as the article introduced carp fishing to many North Americans as a true sporting venture. The Carp Anglers Group is especially strong in the Midwest and Eastern parts of the United States, with growing pockets in the Southwest. There is a Canadian component centered in Ontario and we have 25 members in Europe. CAG is recognized as the North American specimen club for carp by the Carp Society in England - a good start in just a few years and on no budget. Now we are a non-profit organization led by a president, with state and provincial district chairperson volunteers. Our newsletter, The North American Carp Angler, is published quarterly and is filled with fishing tips, club news, big-fish reports, book and product reviews, etc. Our newsletter is evolving into the first magazine devoted to carp angling published in North America. We hold numerous regional events at sites around the USA and Canada each year and also sponsor a few national events, including the Chicago Carp Classic - the competition for the title of North American Carp Champion. Another service we provide is a list of devoted carp fanatics, some of whom may live near you. We hope CAG members will teach each other about carp fishing and form local clubs to spread the word. Believe it or not, there are carp clubs all over the country that were formed for the singular purpose of catching old "bugle-mouth." It turns out that carp are a popular fish, but most anglers thought they were the only ones catching carp. We hope to change all that forever. he not-for-profit organization registered as ‘Carp Anglers Group Ltd’ (also referred to as CAG) was established to pursue the following objectives: A) To gain acceptance of the carp as an exciting and challenging sport-fish. B) To become better carp anglers, assist others and encourage them to join us. C) To treat the carp with respect, promote the release of trophy-size carp and encourage others to do the same. D) To provide both members and non-members with the opportunity to meet, socialize and enjoy fishing for carp in a group atmosphere.

I caught a 16 pound channel catfish just on top of the dam a week ago from the bank.

By the way...I am new to the area. I have for a long time been wanting to fish the Catfish tournament held every year in Grand Forks. I am from Illinois, so this was not possible. I do not have a boat so I need to find someone who has the boat but needs a knowledgable fishing teammate. I am an expert catfish angler and even have graduate level catfish Fishery Biology work under my belt. I know how to find fish and catch them. If there are any anglers out there that like to talk catfish and are looking for a teammate for the next tournament (2006)...please send me an e-mail.

Mary, I would fish the downstream side of the North dam here in Grand Forks. You can pick up bait at the local Scheels sprot store. Someone there in the fishing dept. should be able to give you directions to the dam I'm talking about.

My high school son is in Grand Forks for a wrestling tournament this weekend. After the tournament we would like to find a place to shore fish for a day or so. Not picky about what kind of fish but we have rods and no boat and we would try to catch something. Any suggestions on places to go, (I read about the dam on this site)and bait or lures, etc would be appreciated....

NEED A CO ANGLER FOR THE JUNE15-18TH FLW WALLEYE TOUR/DEVILS LAKE TOURNAMENT:

If anyone is interested in signing up as a co-angler for the above mentioned event, please email me at juls231@msn.com. Pro angler Mike Gibson is looking for a co-angler to sign up with, and I'm trying to help him find one.

Here's how the entry status works: Pro's and Co's that sign up as "counterparts" will receive priority entry status in each event. Those that do not sign up with a counterpart will be entered by time date stamp. So, if you are planning on getting in this tournament, it's best to sign up with a Pro Angler.

Mike is offering prefishing to anyone that signs up with him.

The entry fee for Co Anglers is 360.00 this year. It's 350.00 for the entry and 10.00 for a conservation fee. The conservation fees collected go back towards helping the fisheries the FLW Walleye Tour visits. For more information, please visit http://www.flwoutdoors.com and click on the link for the FLW Walleye Tour. All the information you need can be found there...just click on the "rules" on the left hand side of that page.

In the past the entry fees have been 500.00, so with the reduced fees, and the new format where everyone fishes for three days before it cuts to the top ten on the last day, the fields are going to fill fast! They are only taking 150 entries this season, so get your spot confirmed by signing up with a Pro Angler!

Thanks and have a great day! Juls juls231@msn.com
