I was just in wahpeton at the Kidder Dam recreation/camping area and the Northern and Walleyes are hitting like crazy on jig heads with a long grub tail, minnows with a jig head, shads, and the Northern on dare devils, big crank baits, minnows and jiggheads we had lots of action almost every cast spent at least 5 hours on Thursday and Friday it was awsome fishing
Good Luck to all fisherman and hunters.

Fished the lake on the 18th and 19th, with very good success. We trolled the 57 and 20 bridge and got eaters. Fished cranks in shallow ( 2 to 8 ) for the bigger ones in East bay by the dairy farm. Had great success the 2nd day on Bud pitching cranks and deadsticking a husky jerk. Put 1 suspend dot on the belly near the tail so it kinda of sat up like a puppy and they gobbled that up!

My good friend and I have never been to North Dakota before and we would like to see what it would take to pull our 16 foot boat up and spend some time fishing. We are also thinking about possibly bringing the families and kids along and make this our vacation for the year. So we would be interested to finding out what would be available for them as they won't wanting to be fishing all day. Thanks

I've been using Kirsch's mapping software for a few years now and I think it's great. I don't know of a slicker way to find fish-holding structure than to make use of this technology with my gps. I haven't made use of the Devil's Lake maps yet (I got 'em, just haven't been out yet since I got 'em), but I hear they're right on. I can't wait to make use of them!!!

Last week Devils Lake was slow and the perch were traveling in small schools of around 5-10, average size was around 7 inch, but with some exceptions of certain depths, you can find jumbos up to 11 inches, your best bet will be the short drop offs on the north end of the lake, the pike are picking up after a late start this year and the average size is around 28 inches, you can find these along the small weedbeds in the shallows, Walleye on Devils are ranging from 19-22 right now and are being caught on small suckers! very suprising

I was fishing in that lake I'll tell ya there is some big fish down there. It took me 2 hours just to get this one fish to the boat. I knew it was huge but I had no idea. Finally got it to the boat and I thought it was deformed ,...only had one eye. I looked to the other side of the boat and saw the other eye then I knew it was big. Dam fish lept out of the water, snapped the line, ate my dog right out of the boat and swam away. People should be careful what kind of chemicals the put in that lake:)

Perch fishing has been great all fall here on Devils Lake. Five of us caught from 130 to 150 perch averageing 10 inches the three days before christmas. Largest weighed just over 1 1/2 lbs with quite a few between 1 and 1 1/2 lbs.
Iv'e been walleye fishing since then and it has been hit and miss. The biggest was 5 lbs and not great numbers, we kept 7 two lbers for our best outing so far.
