Bucktamer,
Was it you who caught several pike using smashed cisco's last year? I haven't had much luck on Laretta this year, only a few small slickies.

Dangerous ice conditions have developed on Golden Lake in Steele County. In the last day, at least 6 houses have fallen through the ice and there could be up to 10. There is currently open water near shore on the south end of the lake. Be careful, no vehicular travel is advised until colder weather firms up the ice.

Bravosmoke, I haven't used the auger as much as I would like to yet but my opinion right now would be that it just isn't that much difference from the older Jiffy design. My opinion may change when we get to cutting thicker ice. So far the thickest that I have drilled is 14 inches.
Ice report on Devils is about 12-14 inches as of last Sunday. We just had two days in the fortys with high wind so I don't know if that damaged the ice or not. We are now moving to a cold snap so we will be in good shape again in a day or so.

Steve, ND isn't an easy place to find prairie dogs for the average joe hunter. Our biggest populations are in the SW 1/4 of the state (at least I don't many since I moved here in the east). My advice? Get a ND PLOTs guide from the NDGF web page and starting at the Little Missouri north of Killdeer, work your west and south looking for these little buggers on state and fed lands. I think most farmers will probably let you hunt prairie dogs on their land so long as they do not have cattle within the same area. It's been years since I've shot them, wary little buggers, prefer gopher shooting myself. I would also strongly suggest looking through ND game and fish rules and regs to see if licenses are needed, seasons, etc. Wouldn't want anyone to get in trouble shooting these pests.

Brad, How's that new Stealth auger working? Saw you were using one , but didn't see a report yet. We are planning a trip to Devils Lake end of next week. Does anyone have any info on the ice conditions. Are people driving on all of the lake?

cvikes80, The junction of countyy roads 6 and 13 are where you will want to turn south. It is 9 miles west of the railroad tracks in Merrifield, or 4 miles east of county road 3 (the one that goes north to Emerado). County road 13 is gravel, go south on it about 1/2 mile and you should see the trail to the east that will take you up and over the dike.
Congrats to Scott on the addition to the household. Maybe we should try and get you an honorary medical license.

I caught mostly everything on my kastmaster.

Any reports out there? I've heard it's been pretty slow, but where have people been driving besides Haybale and a bit over by Woodland? How far are people driving out on East Bay and Black Tiger (of course today's weather isn't helping things at all).

I fished Golden Lake(south)on Saturday. Jigged a few small perch and about a 4" walleye. There was alot of people out. Then I fished Golden Lake(north)on Sunday and didn't catch anything. I saw one guy out punching holes all over the lake and marking with his vex and he left in about a half an hour.(Where are the fish?)
