Did something happen to perch in DL? A few years ago most anyone could find them. Now it seems no one is really having any luck. Last winter didn't seem to be much good either. I realize there's a lot of water but with all the electronics available you should at least be able to see them after punching holes all day.

I am planning a spring goose hunt to North Dakota, i was wondering if there are any good public hunting grounds, preferably in the eastern but anywhere will do, that are good for goose hunting. If there are any private land owner that wouldnt mind having a few goose hunters on their land.

You can let me know through e-mail at bap11ss@hotmail.com , but i will also check this website too.

Thanks

I will be visiting the omaha/council bluffs area this summer and am curious to know if there is some good bass fishing in the area? From the fishing reports i have browsed through ,in the Omaha area, catfish seem to be the most popular sport fish to pursue, at least on the missouri river. Not many omaha/council bluffs bass fishin reports though? Quite frankly, (taking nothing away from catting) i am more interested in bass fishing and i will bring my fishin rod with me if there is descent bass populations in the missouri or area lakes. Please let me know if the bass fishing is good enough to justify me toting my rod with me. Thanx,Lerch

the weather forcast sounds good, 30s for saturday. will try pipestem for the crappies. they seem to be be 3 to 5 feet off the bottom. couple of weeks ago the perch were on the bottom with a few small eyes. when we drilled and found the crappies at 3 to 5 feet. we always marked perch on the bottom. these perch seem small, i did not catch any keepers. so keep using the vexilar and good fishing. we need more fishing reports for this website.

Just a quick update for the Red today. Overall the action was slow, I contribute it to the mild weather it usually slows the action down and I'm not totally sure as to why. There were four in our group, fished from 8:30 til 1:00 pm. Total catch, two 'eyes and three sauger, with several missed opportunities thrown into the mix. There were six other guy's fishing in our proxsimity, they too never did anything to write home about. Oh ya I guess I should mention that one of the two 'eyes we caught measured 29"'s and tipped the scales at 9lbs.15oz's.Catching & releasing that girl made the venture worth while! I'll try again as soon as the temps drop down a little!

Drove 1100 miles round trip to Devils Lake. three people fishing two days equaled zero perch. Fishing was the worst the locals had scene in years. Maybe I'm not the greatest fisherman, but the Vexilar was showing zero fish also, so at least I have proof that the fish were hard to find. The pro's from the resort were having the same luck as us. I made reservations a month or two back so I was on the hook for the trip weather I went or not. I took the chance. But like they say. A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work. I didn't know it would THAT bad.

But on a more positive note, I stayed at Woodland Resort on Devils Lake.(WWW.woodlandresort.com). If you are planning a trip, summer or winter, check them out. The have cabins, a small, motel and camping space , sports shop, resturant, and freindly staff. We stayed in the motel. Nothing fancy, but it was clean and warm and very afforable. The fishing package was also a good deal. (no, they don't guarentee fish, but it was still fun.) Email me if you'd like more info.

Just A little tip the next time your getting ready to head out on the Red or for that matter on any of your favorite honey holes, you might want give those Cubby Darter's (CD's)a try! At times they're simply deadly, not all of the time but man there are those days when CD's are out and out deadly! Like Backwater Ed, (who incidently put me onto these little darlings)I too have been playing around when them for the past few season's and have been on some occasions enjoying fantastic success! As each season passes by, CD's are producing more and more positive results and for good reason, they catch fish! A couple of locals have been really going too town on the Red fishing with CD's! They're an extremely versatile lure that can be presented as is, or they can be dressed up for scent simply by adding a small portion of minnow, it pays to experiment!

So the next time you're heading out on the ice, you might want to include a CD or two in your tackle!

I was on North Golden yesterday and besides 2 little northerns that would not reach across the hole, NOTHING. Lots of snow, but its crusted and easy to get around, Looks the same on South. Was at the sore and there is no access to south there. Go over to the west side.

The Red's been fairly productive so far this winter and has produced quite a few trophy 'eyes. The area out from Selkirk Air just north of the city has been the most productive. Other area's have produced as well, the area south of the steam plant for one. Over the past couple of weeks the action has tapered off a little, but there are still good ones to be had! Loads of snow combined with some slush on the river which makes travelling difficult, if you don't have a four wheeler my advice to you is walk, do not attempt to drive out on the ice!
